Karen MacKenzie-Stepner
Director of Halton Hills Speech Centre is a two-timer!

...a two time award winner that is! MacKenzie-Stepner was recently recognized for her professional contributions by both the Ontario and Canadian Associations of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists.

On the 14th of September 2004, Karen MacKenzie-Stepner, Halton Hills Speech Centre's Director received the Volunteer Appreciation Award from the Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists for her many years of loyalty and commitment to both the profession and the national association. Karen has twice represented Ontario on the National Board of Directors in the last ten years as well as being active in several national level committees.

MacKenzie-Stepner was also the proud recipient of the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (OSLA) Honours of the Association. This award recognized the work that Karen has completed on behalf of the profession and the community at large over her 20+ years of practice. The award was presented to Karen for her continued involvement on the Provincial Board of Directors and various provincial level committees, also acknowledging the professional and personal contributions that she has given to the community to increase awareness of speech pathology issues and to improve access for communicatively impaired individuals. The award was presented to Karen on October 20, 2004 during OSLA's award evening in Toronto. "I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award" indicated Beth Anne Kenny, Executive Director, OSLA who has personally worked with Karen on several projects.
